Atlanta Hawks

Targeting the aim with a clever and sharp eye like a Hawk, The Atlanta Hawks are an American professional basketball team based in Atlanta, Georgia. They are part of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The franchise was formed in 1946 and their final relocation took place in 1968, when the Hawks moved to Atlanta, Georgia. The franchise was formed in 1946 as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks in the Quad Cities area.

The Blackhawks eventually became one of the National Basketball Association’s 17 original teams after a merger in 1949 of the 12-year-old National Basketball League and the four-year-old Basketball Association of America. The Blackhawks reached the playoffs in the NBA’s inaugural year, under the leadership of coach Red Auerbach. However, the following season, they failed to qualify for the postseason. Despite this, the Hawks were one of the league’s worst teams, and in 1955 the Hawks

The Memphis Grizzlies Roar Into Action Every NBA Game

My thoughts, and the thoughts of many other Mavs fans about this summer in Dallas. Mavs Forum: www.dallas-mavs.com Rodrigue Beaubois: www.youtube.com CowboyTD: www.youtube.com What I meant by “MLE”: Mid-Level Exception. A team is allowed to sign one player to a contract equal to the average NBA salary, even if the team is over the salary cap already, or if the signing would put them over the cap.

The Memphis Grizzlies Roar Into Action Every NBA Game

Though the Memphis Grizzlies are cubs in the NBA, they have begun to growl. Though they have only been in the NBA since 2001, the Grizzlies have already advanced to the playoffs during three seasons. The Grizzlies moved to Memphis before the 2001-2002 season, after playing in Vancouver for six years. Interestingly, the Grizzlies were not the first professional basketball team that Memphis has hosted. The Memphis Pros/Tams/Sounds was an ABA team that played in the city from 1970-1975.

Where did the name “Grizzlies” originate? In fact, the first name the franchise chose was the “Mounties.” However, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police objected to the name, as Mounties was a nickname for their police force. Thus, the franchise selected the alternate team, the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies lost their first NBA game to the Detroit Pistons, 90-80.

Eventually, they would finish their season with a disappointing 23-59 record.

The New Orleans Hornets Buzz Constantly Towards an NBA Championship

The minutes didn’t matter. The Denver Nuggets were just encouraged to see a uniform draping Nene’s beefy body again, and that great smile splashed across his face once more. The big Brazilian forward played the final 77 seconds of the Nuggets’ 118-105 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night, marking his return to the court 2 1/2 months after surgery to remove a malignant testicular tumor. “Everybody was excited to see Nene back out there, just to see him back in his uniform, seeing him smile again after the stuff he’s been through,” said Carmelo Anthony, who scored 32 points and keyed the decisive run in the Nuggets’ fourth straight win. Nene had been out since Jan. 11, and it’s been just over a month since he underwent chemotherapy. In the locker room afterward, Nene never stopped smiling. He said he’s still full of nerves, still absent enough stamina but certainly not lacking any strength. “I survived, I’m still here,” he said. “I’m a new man, stronger than ever, I just say, ‘Thank you, everybody.’ ” Allen Iverson added 31 points for the Nuggets, who are a half-game behind Golden State for the eighth and final playoff spot, and one game behind the Mavericks. The Warriors visit the Pepsi Center on Saturday night for another big matchup. The Warriors visit the Pepsi Center on Saturday night for another big matchup. “That game’s bigger than this game,” suggested Anthony. But this game will long be remembered, too. When Nene stripped off his warmups and finally

The New Orleans Hornets Buzz Constantly Towards an NBA Championship

Do you fly to distant cities? During its seasons since the start of the new millennium, the Hornets have racked up the most frequent-flyer miles, buzzing to a new home. Since 2002, the Hornets have flown from Charlotte, to New Orleans, to Oklahoma City, and then back to New Orleans. Here are some fascinating facts about the insect for which the NBA team was named:

• Most hornet species are native to Asia’s tropical regions
• Though huge and loud, hornets are not aggressive
• The hornet’s sting is primarily for killing insects, rather than vertebrates
• Hornets can sting more than one time, unlike bees, which die after singing
• In some European countries, it is illegal to kill hornets or their nests

Why are the Hornets not the Bees or Wasps? Before they were the New Orleans Hornets, the Hornets played as an NBA expansion team in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 1988-2002. The original proposed

The Portland Trailblazers Travel on the Path to Another NBA Championship

While standing on top of the world is an amazing feat, getting back there can be challenging. For instance, since the Portland Trailblazers won the 1977 NBA Finals, they have not succeeded at winning their second basketball championship. Since 1977, the Trailblazers have returned to the playoffs 25 times, have played in five Conference Finals, and have advanced to two NBA Finals.

When did the Trailblazers begin their journey to the NBA Finals? They were one of three expansion teams that the NBA added during the 1970-1971 season. The franchise chose the name in a “name the team” contest, in which people submitted about 10,000 entries. “Trailblazers” pays tribute to the explorers who traveled across the Oregon Trail during the 1800s. Here are some interesting facts about the state of Oregon:

• Oregon’s official state colors are blue and gold
• Oregon (and New Jersey) are the only two U.S. states with no “self-serve” gas

NBA Tickets – Western Conference All-Star Reserves

The best players in the NBA usually sell the most NBA tickets at http://www.stubhub.com/nba-tickets ; these are the players that are selected to the All-Star team. Here are the seven players I think should make the Western Conference All-Star team as reserves. (Note: All Statistics are as of January 29th.)

Al Jefferson, Minnesota Timberwolves: Jefferson is an old-school big man. He’s got a series of post moves and does the bulk of his damage in the painted area. He’s on a team where he faces constant double teams and is still averaging 23 and 10 with more than a block a game and less than two turnovers per contest. He’s a force inside and is one of the league’s up-and-coming star players. I thought he deserved to start over Amare Stoudemire.

Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder: First of all, I throw out team’s records when considering All-Stars; leave that for the MVP voting. Durant has taken the leap from his rookie to sophomore season
